MIAMI, Florida (July 22, 2011). Latin music’s hottest new artist, Prince Royce, reached yet another milestone last night at the 8th Annual Premios Juventud Awards by taking home four awards, making him the biggest winner of the night. The artist, who also had the most nominations (8), won in the following categories: Voice of the Moment, My Favorite Video (for “Corazon Sin Cara”), Super Tour (Stand By Me Tour 2011) and My Favorite Tropical Artist.
“Tonight has been a dream come true. I want to thank my fans who have given me this very special gift, as well as my work team, the radio stations and retail that continue to support me every day.” Prince Royce expressed. “I am especially grateful to Sergio George and Gregory Elias from Top Stop Music who believed in me from the very beginning. I owe all of this to them for signing me to their record label.”
The young artist, whose career was launched a little over a year ago, opened up last night’s show alongside Daddy Yankee with an explosive performance of their hit single “Ven Conmigo”, which electrified the audience, bringing everyone to their feet.
The phenomenal success of Prince Royce is unprecedented in the Latin music industry. His self-titled debut album, released in 2010, has been certified double platinum by the RIAA, while garnering a 2010 Latin Grammy® nomination (for Best Tropical Contemporary Album), three 2011 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, four 2011 Latin Billboard Award. Prince Royce became the #1 Latin album in the country, more than a year after its release, marking an unprecedented achievement for a developing Latin music artist. In fact, for most of 2011, the 22-year-old singer/songwriter/musician has consistently remained in the top 5 of the Latin album sales charts. His second single, “Corazón Sin Cara”, penned by the artist himself, also reached #1 on the Latin Songs chart.
Alongside his remarkable chart success, Royce has already had two sold-out tours in Europe, one in the U.S., and has been invited by Enrique Iglesias to be a special guest on his fall 2011 tour of North America.
Royce has recently entered into an exclusive, long-term, worldwide recording deal with Atlantic Records via a joint venture with Top Stop Music to produce and release his next albums in English and Spanish.
